The purpose of treatment with botulinum toxin in the field of Aesthetic Medicine is to attenuate dynamic wrinkles of the forehead, between the eyebrows, the periorbital region ("crow's feet") and neck bands. Botulinum toxin inhibits the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, preventing the treated muscle from contracting. This prevents the skin immediately above the muscle from folding and thus causing lines and furrows to appear and deepen on the skin.

After treatment, a small hematoma, ecchymosis ("purple") or slight inflammation may appear at the injection points, which will disappear in a few days. Rarely, facial asymmetries, absence or decrease in the effect of the action of botulinum toxin, transient inflammation of the upper eyelids, eyelid ptosis (difficulty in raising the upper eyelids), ocular sensitivity to light and slight sensation may occur. of dry eyes.
